Cavite.info website is an ambitious project of LEENTech Network Solutions.
It is the first comprehensive business directory in Cavite together with OJT’s.
It was a consolidated effort from my team (doing the creative design) and our (3) three
promising OJT’s whose doing the programming backbone.
They are Ernie Velasco, Aljay and Mervin Legaspi of San Sebastian College Recoletos de Cavite.
You can visit the website to see what we accomplished.
We already finished the comprehensive search engine and the initial database back-end of
the website. As of this moment, they are finishing the banner system function so that the banner
can be sellable to the public, business management system for the comprehensive details of
the directory, government management system and tourism management system.
The project is expected to be finished on February 19, 2009 and will have its soft launch by
the end of February 2009.
It has come to my attention that most of the IT graduates are somewhat lacks the basic elements
in the development of a full-blown system. They are more on somewhat focused on programming and
not on the overall project. I have tested them and seen that they are stronger in individual projects
than group projects. That is why it took us sometime to process and digest everything from a
fresh graduate perspective to the business environment perspective.
Tips for future Information Technology OJT’s of San Sebastian College Recoletos de Cavite.
-You must learn how a full blown project work and organized on a PER GROUP basis.
Two heads are better than one but be careful with the pitfall of understand
HOW a group effort really works.
-In a Web Project, the (4) four basic elements should and must always be followed.
Content, Design, Functionality and Usability.
-Always follow directions and if your not clear with the instruction; discuss it with the team
to find an option or solutions then present it to the project manager.
IT IS A MUST if you don’t want to spend time re-doing a particular function and then you found out
in the end that you have to do a major revision. SPEND TIME TO SAVE TIME.
Overall, they will be doing fine in the future. They got skills and it would only take
them additional (6) six months and their off to a good start,
they just need to be trained and managed well.
